I have come to the realization that I will never have enough time to play all the games that I actually own to their glorious wonders that the developers of each game have intended. Like many others, I horde games. Mostly when steam sales come along and I get excited like a little school girl.
When Steam first came along in 2003, I was one of the first early adopters; mostly because at the time I was offered the free expansion to Half Life that Valve was basically giving away if you register for a Steam account. I followed suit and grabbed my group of grade school nerd friends to join in on the action as Half Life, Counter Strike, Quake, Tribes II, Diablo II and Starcraft still ruled our lives at that point. We always had LAN parties, practically every month like a camping trip. Since most of my friends demographics were from the middle class, we all had parents with large houses and enough room to put a few tables and have 8 friends play some games. Yes, It’s that time for my thing around the Star that we seem to celebrate for not dying. After getting married on Friday, I didn’t want to go out so I stayed in and cooked some steaks, had a celebratory cigar and wine with my lovely wife of 5 days! Technically this is both of our birthday celebrations.
I’m very happy to announce that I no longer have to check the box single on any government form and can now check the box “Married”! Having been together for over two years after helping her move to Apex back on July 29, 2015 after I got off work and offered to help, we have been inseparable since. We took our first trip together alone a month later and the rest is our little history. I’m very excited to have such a loving partner who ‘gets me’ for being me and actually enjoys my company. I lost my valuable RAID 5 setup on my main computer earlier in the year and didn’t spend too much time trying to fix it since then, but safe to say that I was able to match the drives correctly and recover all the disks without corruption! I almost felt a little bit like hacking doing the whole check sum analysis using the recovery software. First picture I recovered was of my Lee from our Hawaii trip last year just to make sure the image came through.
This week I spent time researching and building how to make better wooden rings. I made a set of wooden ones for the engagement rings, but Lee destroyed her’s within two days and this time I wanted to be at least a little more Lee resistant. Maybe not Lee proof, but enough to hold it together longer than two days.
I found plans on how to make rings from wood veneer and CA wood super glue on a lathe so having all three I tried the idea.
Today I randomly went and drove the Z3 to Klingspor in Raleigh to checkout what they have new and see the guys at the store. To my surprise, when they arrived, they had moved to Cary off of Highway 64 about a mile from my house! I caught one guy still at store cleaning off the shelf and had a few items left to sell off and grabbed the last board of Chechen.
I basically drove from one Kilngspor to the other in a convertible BMW Z3 with a piece of lumber sticking out like Tony Stark in Iron Man 2. I thought it was funny to post it up and people of Instagram thought so too.
